Specific Steel Drum/Voice Concept:
"I find the textural possibilities of voices and steel drums fascinating. Voices are strong on tone quality, butweak on rhythic power. Steel drums are strong on rhythm but weaker on tone quality. When I combine them, they accentuate the strengths of each other to create a rich tonal environment with lots of rhythmic vitality. Occasionally, I like to reverse the traditional roles of the voice and the drum, by placing repeated rhythmic patterns on the voice and lyrical melodic lines in the steel drums. This brings another completely new texture to the music"
