How to Commission a New Work McClure Productions Logo

Welcome to the Commission Workshop!

The creation of a new work is very exciting! A new work can advance the goals of many different kinds of organizations including performing ensembles, schools, arts councils, as well as "non-arts" organizations. I have worked with a variety of people to create works that have gone on to international performances and publication, and therefore carry the name and mission of the commissioning organization with them! (See my list of current works for some examples)
The creation of a new work can be a highly collaborative process. The goals and interests of the commissioning body play a vital role in molding and shaping the final work.

Here’s how it works.

  1. Answer the questions below that apply to your project. Your responses will help me prepare for our next conversation.
  2. We can chat via email and/or phone to design a project that works for your organization.
  3. We can work together to find optimal networks of funding, promotion, etc. that will maximize the effects of your new work.
  4. We determine a production calendar for your new work that takes into account the necessary research, writing, and rehearsal time as well as the necessary promotion/development activities.
  5. We create a New Work!
