Music for a Pilgrim Church/Artistic Hospitality
We explore the issues surrounding our evermore more diverse congregations,
and their participation in the artistic elements of worship in this workshop.
These topics include song selection, cultural awareness, and planning
strategies that provide a vibrant atmosphere for singers of all kinds
to participate. We will explore the varying expectations of music in worship
across denominations and individual faith communities.
World Music and American Liturgy
This workshop examines the ways in which composers and worship leaders
use cultural gestures from diverse populations to enhance the liturgical
experience. We will explore other cultural assumptions by first developing
a language to understand our own.
Cantoring/Song Leading
In this workshop, we explore proven techniques of inviting congregations
into active musical prayer. These techniques include song selection, gestures,
call-and-response, and more. This workshop is designed for cantors and
song leaders from a variety of faith backgrounds.
